A Minneapolis Star Tribune story on the use of charitable gambling profits at the Ski Gull facility prompted a sharp response. The newspaper said it boosted winter business for resorts. Resorter spokesman Dutch Cragun said it was a community resource.

A two-day hearing on charges of continued violence surrounding the Larco strike ended with a comment and warning from Judge Clinton Wyant. First, he said, despite accusations of wrong-doing by both sides, the 27-day strike was still under control.

Mrs. J.J. Madden, more widely known as Kitty Gordon, of Gull Lake died at St. Joseph's hospital after a three-month illness from heart disease. Kitty came to fame in these parts from her stories of success on Broadway and vaudeville stages.

Earl Koop, who has been ill at St. Joseph's hospital with typhoid fever, was taken home today. He worried so because he wanted to be home before his brother Will was buried, his brother having died of typhoid fever yesterday.
