Minneapolis man pleads guilty to selling cocaine

WALKER - A 27-year-old Minneapolis man Monday pleaded guilty of two counts of first degree controlled substance sale in Cass County District Court, the Cass County attorney Christopher Standlie reported.

During Maurice Sykes Speltz' plea he admitted that he and others sold crack cocaine out of a rural Cass Lake residence multiple times. District Judge John P. Smith sentenced Speltz to 110 months, just over nine years.

IThe criminal complaint alleged that Speltz conspired with others to sell crack cocaine in the Cass Lake area in January to April of 2009. Several others have been charged with offenses related to their involvement with the conspiracy.

The criminal investigation was conducted by agents and investigators of the Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force, the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
