WILLMAR - Landon Stanfield led all scorers with 18 points, including two from beyond the arc, as the Brainerd Warriors fell victim to the Willmar Cardinals 60-51 in Central Lakes Conference boys' basketball Friday.
"We played extremely hard and very aggressive and I was proud of how we played but it wasn't enough," said Warrior coach Matt Urbanek. "Willmar is a good team and its a tough place to play.
"We closed it to 5 in the second half and we had a couple of chances to cut it more, but we couldn't make any shots,"
Brett Cloutier scored nine points, Jed Magstadt added eight and Kyle Crocker chipped in with six.
Brainerd was 7-of-14 at the free-throw line compared to the Cardinals 21-34.
