Global climate changes

Four of the last five winters have seen much higher than normal temperatures and much lower than normal snowfall in the Brainerd area. This is local evidence of global climate change. Since the U.S., with about 6 percent of the world's population produces about 25 percent of the greenhouse gases, radical change on our part is needed. I propose raising the tax on gasoline and other petroleum products by at least $2 per gallon so that the real environmental costs of petroleum use can begin to be addressed.

Passive drowning

This is regarding the YMCA. Do people know the different types of drownings? You have active drowning victims and passive drowning victims. The passive drowning victim is one that can suddenly slip under water without a struggle. A passive drowner can stem from a variety of conditions resulting in a loss of consciousness. I would like to thank the YMCA for doing all that they could do to help bring the life of a passive drowning victim back. I'm just sorry that their efforts were unsuccessful.
