John Arnold, director of sales and co-owner of Madden's on Gull Lake, recently accepted the Century Award on behalf of the Minnesota Hotel and Motor Hotel Association. The award is for educational achievement and participation in the organization's seminars.

Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615 held its 1972 Pine Tree District, Boy Scouts of America, Recognition Banquet. Highlight of the program was the presentation of the Eagle Scout Award to six Boy Scouts: Jerry Rosnau, Brian Anderson, Kerry Koep, Lyndon Kirk, John Hansen and William Friday, Jr.

Herman Koering, Rt. 2, Fort Ripley, topped the DeKalb Feed Company five-acre corn growing official list for Crow Wing County. Koering, who said that his sample plot covered 13 acres, had a yield of 94.96 bushels per acre to lead three other county farmers.

Saturday the Study Club, section of the Ladies Musical Club, met and listened to a discussion of "Period Furniture" by Mrs. W.C. Cobb. She handled a very difficult subject in such a fashion that the facts were brought home very forcibly to her audience.

The wolf seen crossing Sewell Lake must have been a sheep. We never heard of a wolf acting that way. Sheep sometimes are great on "debut."
