FERGUS FALLS - The Brainerd Warriors set the tone early and carried it to second place in Saturday's Central Lakes Conference meet.

The Little Falls Flyers placed sixth and were led by all-around meet champion Rachelle LeBlanc, who captured the title with a season best 36.50. That helped her earn all-conference honors in the all-around as well as on beam, bars and floor.

The Warriors had numerous all-conference winners, but it was the leadoff performers that paved the way.

Rachelle LeBlanc

Allison Reuer placed 22nd on bars. Mikayla Cerney was 15th on beam. Jackie Caughey landed in 19th on floor and Claire Lepage finished 31st on vault to take the pressure off the remaining four athletes in each event.

"The first kid in every event was so important Saturday," said Warrior head coach Dave Maras. "All four girls made it a lot easier for the rest of the girls."

The result was a first on floor, seconds on beam and bars and fourth on vault.

Kelsi Ring

Brainerd's Kelsi Ring won the floor with a 9.25. Madison Grausam finished fourth and Becky Walker placed fifth. Cerney was 12th for Brainerd's 36.225.

"Our floor was exceptional Saturday," said Maras. "They really had a nice day and performed quite well. As a whole, I look at the entire team and they did what they needed to do. They know there is a little more out there for them and we'll work on it the next couple of weeks so we can get there."

Walker finished third on bars with a 9.05 and Cerney tied for fifth with an 8.9. Ring finished in ninth.

Becky Walker

Walker also led Brainerd on beam with a 9.025. Ring placed 11th.

Ring scored a fourth-place 9.275 on vault to pace the Warriors.

"Every event went well," Maras said. "We hit on four of five on beam and the same on bars. Everybody hit floor. We wish we had a couple of vaults back, but that's OK.

"We're starting to believe that we're right there. St. Cloud Tech only beat us by 1.3. We're right on their tales. We had a lot of great performances and we're constantly getting a little better and more confident."

Ring captured all-conference honors on the vault and floor and was honorable mention on bars and all-around.

Walker was all-conference on bars and all-around and honorable mention on beam and floor.

Smith earned honorable mention on vault. Cerney was honorable mention on bars.

LeBlanc outscored Tech's Mariah Miller to win the all-around. She was second on bars with a 9.2, third on floor with a 9.15, fourth on beam with a 9.2 and 18th on vault with a 8.95.

Walker was third in the all-around with a 36.025 and Ring placed fifth with a 35.775.
