Emily Mehr sets scoring record in Gobbler loss

DEER RIVER - Megan Zillmer scored 23 points to lead the Crosby-Ironton Rangers to their 11th-straight victory by beating the Deer River Warriors 58-53 in non-conference action Thursday.

Alisha Moritz collected 11 points and 16 rebounds. Sam Stanfield, who finished with nine points, sank two free throws with 14 seconds remaining to seal the Ranger win.

Braham 65, Aitkin 50

AITKIN - Emily Mehr scored 11 points and became the Aitkin Gobbler's all-time leading scorer in Thursday's 65-50 Great River Conference loss to the Braham Bombers.

Mehr, who now sits with 1,072 career points, broke Randy Gilbertson's record of 1,064 points set in 1999.

Braham won their 16th-straight game and broke Aitkin's 11-game winning streak.

Sarah Novak added 10 points and four steals. Lauren Landrus finished with 10 points and eight rebounds and Meredith Chaput tallied 10 points and four blocks for the Gobblers.

PILLAGER - Despite 12 points from both Kaylie Hanson and Rachel Sebasky, the Pillager Huskies could not overcome Kim Miller's 27 points as the Henning Hornets captured the Park Region Conference game 58-47 Thursday.

Pillager's Amy Fredman scored 10 points.

SEBEKA - Taryn Fuller netted 28 points to lead the Verndale Pirates during Thursday's 77-66 Park Region Conference loss to the Sebeka Trojans.

Elizabeth Johnson added 13 points and Alicia Johnson scored 12 for the Pirates.

The Trojans have won 12 of their last 13 games and lead the conference with an 8-1 mark.
