C-I girls defeat Deer River

DEER RIVER -- The Crosby-Ironton Rangers defeated the Deer River Warriors 48-35 in non-conference girls' basketball action Thursday.

Jenna Kovatovich and Whitney Smetana both had 11 points for the Rangers. Kovatovich added five steals and Smetana grabbed 10 rebounds for the Rangers, who improved to 8-13 overall.

VERNDALE -- Kayla White scored 25 points but the Verndale Pirates were defeated 57-51 by Nevis in girls' basketball Thursday.

Raya Kern had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Pirates.
