Raider women's win streak ends at 13

WAHPETON, N.D. -- Thirteen turned out to be an unlucky number for the Central Lakes College Raiders women's basketball team.

The Raiders' 13-game win streak ended Monday as the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats handed CLC a 92-51 defeat in non-conference action.

"Tonight, we were taken to the wood shed," CLC coach Dennis Eastman said. "The streak has ended. Now we need to start a new one."

The Wildcats shot the lights out. They finished 36 of 70 (51 percent) from the field, 8 of 17 from 3-point land (47 percent) and 12 of 14 from the foul line (86 percent).

CLC, meanwhile, shot just 37 percent from the field and 52 percent at the line. The Raiders also committed 30 turnovers.

"When a team shoots 62 percent (from the field) in the first half and is 7 of 13 from 3-point land I think the cards were stacked," Eastman said. "They came out the second half and cooled down but I'm glad this nightmare is over."

Sarah Nagel, with 24 points and 10 rebounds, led CLC. Amy Martinson added 13 points for the Raiders, who are 13-6 overall.

Five Wildcats scored in double figures, led by Michelle Salvatore and Lisa Borgrud with 15 apiece.
