Edna M. Hjelm, 96, Brainerd, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village of Brainerd.
She was born Oct. 7, 1903, in Minneapolis to Fred and Mary (Stegg) Hohag. She graduated from Waverly High School in Waverly in 1919. She graduated from St. Cloud State Normal College in 1922 with a degree in education. She taught school and coached girls' basketball in Riverton. She married Ralph Hjelm on July 26, 1924, in Buffalo. They lived in Riverton until moving to Brainerd in 1972.
Survivors include a son, Robert Hjelm, Brainerd; a daughter, Norma Kluna, Hempstead, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Warner and Stanley Hohag, Waverly.
Her husband, a brother and a sister died earlier.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Woodland Good Samaritan Village of Brainerd with the Rev. Lilja Behr officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery of Irondale Township.
Friends may call at Woodland Good Samaritan Village of Brainerd from 11 a.m. until the time of services Thursday.
