CROSBY - Bryce Tesdahl paced Class 2A's third-ranked Crosby-Ironton Rangers with 25 points as they defeated the Pine River-Backus Tigers 96-47 Tuesday for their ninth-straight boys' basketball victory

C.J. Peeters finished with nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Trevor Dickie added eight points and seven rebounds.

Jared Mattson collected seven assists and Joe McLaughlin scored 12 points followed by Peter Vukelich's 10.

Micah Eveland led the Tigers with 16 points, including three 3-pointers.

ST. CLOUD - Bryan Virnig scored 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Pierz Pioneers as they were defeated by the Rockford Rockets Tuesday 74-70 in a Central Minnesota Conference boys' basketball game on the campus of St. Cloud State University.

Chad Lanners added 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists followed by Dustin Monson's 15 points and 13 rebounds and Matt Przybilla's 12 points.

The loss snaps Pierz's five-game winning streak. Rockford also snapped the Pioneers' seven-game win streak earlier this season.
