Garfield Elementary School experiences waterline break

Riley Andres (left), Gavin Andres and Cameryn Silvernail looked at books in a tent Tuesday at Baxter Elementary School. Kindergarten students at the school spent time in the library for Camp Baxter, an annual event for kindergarten through fourth-grade students. Several tents filled the library along with an artificial campfire. Wow! All the energy, money and time we have devoted to putting cameras, electronic warning signs and other advancements to our highways. Just imagine if this same level of priorities and spending were used for mass transit (subways in the metro, light rail throughout the state) and other forms of transportation that do not further create a dependence on the internal combustion engine. Why are we still going backward?
