Child in need

Has the winter weather got you down? Do you look outside and wish for warmer weather? Does your life need a breath of fresh air?

Kinship Partners has more than 60 children on the waiting list who want and need these same things. For these children having a partner who will be a friend and spend some quality time with them will be just what they need to make their winter seem sunnier.

This week's "Child In Need" is Andrea who is 13 and in eighth grade. Her favorite subjects are home economics and English. Andrea likes basketball, dancing with Just For Kix, listening to music, singing, snowmobiling, bike riding and movies. She lives in Brainerd with her mom, and two older sisters.

Andrea says she gets along well with her mother, but as in most families she sometimes gets into tiffs with her sisters. Her father lives in Minneapolis and she does not see him often. Andrea describes herself as being smart, willing to try new things, and she likes to be both active and relaxed.

One thing she doesn't like is when people lie and talk about others behind their backs. Andrea's mother says the ideal Kinship Partner for her daughter would be someone who likes sports, playing games and movies. Andrea echoes this by saying she would like to have a partner who is active and just wants to spend time with her.

Sounds like a pretty basic need, doesn't it? Spending time with Andrea could be just what you need to put some new energy and experiences into these long winter days. You may be just the person to share special times with her and make a difference in both your lives.
