NISSWA -- Eugene Earl Wedan, 70, Nisswa, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Greater Staples Care Center.
He was born June 13, 1932, in Duluth to C. Elmer and Ella (Neher) Wedan. He graduated from Derby High School in Derby, Kan., and attended Friends University until he enlisted in the Marines. He served a two-year term during the Korean War. After the service he returned to his family home in Pillager. While working for Northwestern Bell, he married Marlyn Strang on Nov. 23, 1956, in Brainerd. They moved to Nisswa in 1957. He was a self-employed contractor for the past 30 years.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Pamela and Marge, both of Brainerd, Dianna, Merrifield, and Janet, Nisswa; a son, Gary, Manhattan, Mont.; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Ivan, Vern, Melvin and Lloyd; and three sisters, Vernette Nugent, Dorothy Hinson and his twin, Lois Jean Hughey.
His parents and four sisters, Ardice Mehling, Arlene Schubitzke, Doris Olson and Norma Stoen, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pequot Lakes Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Whittemore officiating.
Friends may call an hour before services Saturday at the church.
Arrangements are with Northland Funeral Home in Pequot Lakes.
