Ernest L. Musolf

PEQUOT LAKES -- Ernest L. Musolf, 77, Pequot Lakes, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Viewcrest Health Center in Duluth.

He was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Pequot Lakes to Arnold and Louise (Nickel) Musolf. He was educated in Pequot Lakes. After high school he worked in a radio shop and as a telegrapher. He was in the service from 1943 to 1946 in World War II. He was awarded the Overseas Service Bar, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Battle Star, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He married Violet Marie Hall on Oct. 3, 1953, in St. Paul. They lived in Pequot Lakes. He worked as a Northern Pacific Railroad electrical supervisor and then for the Burlington Northern Railroad until he retired in 1981. He was a member of American Legion Post 49 and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Gilman, Worland, Wyo., Cynthia Casey, Grand Rapids, and Marcia Hurry, Mesa, Ariz.; a son, Greg Musolf, Hermantown; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Roland Musolf, Lakeville, Fla., and Martin Musolf, Brainerd.

His wife died in 1981 and two brothers, Alvin and Ervin, and three sisters, Norma, Elaine and Addie, died earlier.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes with the Rev. Frank Milo officiating. Pequot Lakes American Legion Post 49 will provide military honors. Burial will be in Pequot Lakes Cemetery in the spring.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Northland Funeral Home in Pequot Lakes and one hour before services Saturday at the church.
