Homestead notices won't be sent
The Crow Wing County Assessor's Office reminds all homestead property owners that it will not send homestead affidavit cards for the 2002 assessment year.
Property owners or qualified relatives who sell, move or for any reason no longer qualify for the homestead classification notice are required to notify the county assessor's office of the change in homestead status.
Failure to notify the county assessor's office is punishable by recalculation of the tax as non-homestead, in addition to a penalty equal to 100 percent of the homestead benefits.
For more information contact the assessor's office at (218) 824-1010.

Women's center sponsors food plan
Mid Minnesota Women's Center is sponsoring the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
Meals will be available at no cost to all children in the shelter without regard to race, age, color, disability or national origin.
Effective July 1, 2001, through June 30, the amount of reimbursement received by the Mid Minnesota Women's Center is based on the number of sheltered children regardless of family income.
This program, administered by the USDA and the Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning, gives financial assistance to homeless shelters so nutritious meals can be integrated with child care services. The goal of the program is to improve the diets of young children and increase the opportunity for children to eat a variety of nutritious foods.
For more information, contact the women's shelter at P.O. Box 602, Brainerd, MN 56401 or 828-1216.
