WADENA -- Kari Dykhoff recorded a hat trick Saturday as the No. 11-seeded Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines beat Park Rapids, the No. 14 seed, 4-1 in the first round of the Section 8 girls' hockey playoffs.
Dykhoff, a center who is the only senior on the team, scored two first period goals and one in the second.
The Wolverines completed a sweep of Park Rapids, beating the Panthers for the third time this season. Wadena-Deer Creek next faces sixth-seeded Brainerd at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Area Civic Center. The Warriors have beaten the Wolverines twice this season, 5-0 and 2-1.

MORRIS -- Morris, 12th-ranked, defeated the 13th-ranked PL/C-I/A Blades 4-1 Saturday to advance to the next round of the Section 8 playoffs.
The Blades finished their season at 5-16-1.
In other Section 8 action, 10th-ranked Thief River Falls shut out Alexandria, 15th ranked, 8-0.
