LAKEWOOD, Ohio (AP) -- Lakewood St.Edward, Ohio's top-ranked high school wrestling team, downed No. 3-ranked Apple Valley, Minn., 34-18 Saturday night.

St. Edward also defeated Stow (Ohio) Walsh Jesuit 48-18 in the St. Edward Triangular.

Walsh Jesuit also lost to Apple Valley 42-17.

St. Edward, finishing its dual meet season at 14-0, won eight of 14 bouts against Apple Valley (18-1).

A pin from Nick Mann (130) and technical falls by Mark Jayne (125), Ryan Bertin (152) and Greg Hallahan (171) plus a major decision from Chris Leabu (145) gave St. Edward a comfortable margin of victory.

Apple Valley coach Jim Jackson was not happy with a referee's decision in the 130-pound match, requiring the final 23 seconds to be repeated.

''St. Edward was probably the better team. But that loss did hurt our momentum. It took the wind out of our sails,'' he said.

The controversy became a moot point after Eagles senior John Bialowas (189) beat Chad Polus 1-0 to clinch St. Edward's victory.
