WALKER - Five wrestlers from Staples-Motley won their weight classes to lead the Cardinals to first place in the eight-team Walker-Hackensack-Akeley tournament Friday.

Crosby-Ironton picked up three first-place finishes en route to placing fourth.

Winning for the Cards were Blake Miller at 103, Brady Killian at 125, Jordan Bendson at 152, Dylan Shequen at 171 and David DeYonge at heavyweight.

First-place finishers for C-I were Hayden Zillmer at 112, Brad Hofstrand at 130 and David Booth at 160. Hofstrand was voted the tournament's most valuable wrestler by coaches.

Bendson defeated C-I's Chris Rothstein for the championship at 152 while Booth defeated the Cardinals' Chandler Trout for the championship at 160.

Little Falls 48, Sauk Rapids 25

SAUK RAPIDS - Derik Jendro, Eric Hegna and Jack Jendro scored pins for Little Falls in less than a minute as the Flyers defeated the Sauk Rapids Storm 48-25 in a Central Lakes Conference meet Friday.

Derik Jendro earned his pin in 40 seconds while Hegna and Jack Jendro each recorded pins in 55 seconds. Also scoring a pin for the Flyers was Dillon Kifer in 2:40.
