PEQUOT LAKES - Four players scored in double figures as the Staples-Motley Cardinals edged the Pequot Lakes Patriots 58-55 in Mid-State Conference play Friday.
Jason Johnson led the Cardinals with 15, followed by Derek Wolhowe with 11 and Gunner Johnson and Jordan Riewer with 10 apiece. Riewer is two points shy of being the leading scorer in S-M history.
S-M, 6-1 in conference play, 13-3 overall, is riding a five-game win streak.
Kurtis Moody of Pequot Lakes led all scorers with 20 points. Michael Ward was the other Patriot in double digits with 10 as Pequot Lakes fell to 2-5 in the Mid-State, 8-8 overall.

CROSBY - Mark Hoge racked up 18 points, five rebounds, and four steals in leading the Crosby-Ironton Rangers to a 64-48 win over the Detroit Lakes Lakers in a Mid-State Conference game Friday.
Brock Tesdahl added 10 points for Class 2A's fourth-ranked Rangers, who have won eight straight since their only loss - 51-41 to Plainview-Elgin-Millville on Jan. 9.
