Brainerd Garden Club

Brainerd Garden Club will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at the Northland Arboretum. Eleanor Burkett will present a program on wild ones. Hostesses are Hope Johnston and Vi Anderson.

Upcoming events at Brainerd American Legion

The "Magical Escape" book club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Brainerd American Legion. All interested are welcome.

A fish dinner by Chris, Matt and Tavis will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone Thursday at the Legion. Cost: $7.

Baxter Lions Club

The Baxter Lions Club will have a board meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at Camp Vanasek followed by a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the regular meeting will be called to order by president Babe Clifford at 7 p.m.

Wine and beer tasting event

NISSWA - The Spirits of Nisswa and The Pickle Factory will host a wine and beer tasting event from 2-5 p.m. March 6 at the Nisswa Community Center. Wine, beer and light hors d'oeuvres will be served (Mickey's). Tickets available at Spirits of Nisswa and The Pickle Factory. Cost: $20. Proceeds will help the Nisswa baseball program.

Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball

There will be a Mardi Gras masquerade ball from 6-11 p.m. Friday at St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School, 817 Juniper, Brainerd. Tickets are $29 which include a dinner catered by Prairie Bay of Baxter, dance lesson on the swing, live music for dancing provided by El Nino, a 15-piece band and a cash wine and beer bar. Limited number of tickets available. Contact the school at 829-2344.

Brainerd Service League

The Brainerd Service League will meet Tuesday at the Franklin Arts Center, Room 223, with Mary Boran as hostess. Servers will be Jeni Berg, Betty Aga and Deb Lundbohm. Social time at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and meeting to follow.

Cancer support group to meet

CROSBY - Cuyuna Regional Medical Center and Riverwood Healthcare Center sponsor a monthly cancer support group. The next meeting will be 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 16 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Suite 90, located across from Ambulatory Services.

Lisa Old will introduce Dr. Ron Halvorson, CRMC's new Oncologist. Dr. Halvorson is board certified in both medical oncology and hematology and has 20 years of experience in treating patients with cancer or blood disorders. He will be speaking on the topic of depression. After the discussion, Dr. Halvorson will be available for questions.

The meeting will be facilitated by Lisa Old, RN in the Oncology departments at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center and Deanna Mattson, RN, C in the Oncology and medical/surgical departments at Riverwood.

The cancer support group is open to anyone who currently has or has had a cancer diagnosis and interested family and friends. For more information or questions, call Cuyuna Regional Medical Center at 546-4302 or Riverwood at 927-8287.

VFW Post and Auxiliary meetings

The VFW Post and Auxiliary monthly meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the VFW. Members are urged to attend as these are informational about veteran affairs.

VFW Men's Auxiliary Meeting will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the VFW.

Friday night dinner

The VFW Friday night dinner of all you can eat fish will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone. Cost: $8.

VFW Valentine's dinner

The VFW Sunday Valentine's dinner will be Hab's prime rib with social hour at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Feb. 14 at the VFW.

Cost is $25 for two or $12.50 for singles. There will be a rose for the ladies and a bar drink for everyone. Reservations are necessary. Call the VFW by Wednesday after 3 p.m.

Class of 1952

The Class of 1952 will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bonanza. All classmates, spouses and friends are invited to attend.

Retired Firepersons

Retired firepersons, spouses and widows will have breakfast at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Wings Cafe.

Bee-Nay-She Council Bird Club

CROSBY - The Bee-Nay-She Council Bird Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Jesse F. Hallett Memorial Library in Crosby. Identification series will be presented by Warren Nelson. Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory Education Director Debbie Waters will present the program "Come Fly with Me, A Journey Through a Season at Hawk Ridge," to discover the birds, the people and the phenomenon of the fall raptor migration.

BHS class of 1975

The Brainerd High School class of 1975 will meet to plan the 35-year class reunion set for this summer.

Any graduate who would like to help plan this event should attend a planning meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at TJ's Log Cabin, 320 South Seventh St., Brainerd.

The Washington High School class of 1937 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Northwind Grille.

The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the public library meeting room. Lunch to follow.

Alpha Chapter No. 23 OES

Alpha Chapter No. 23 OES will celebrate Valentine's Day at the meeting to be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Masonic Hall. Wear red.

Senior dances

Senior dances will be 1-4 p.m. Tuesday in Motley with music by Dale Dahman; from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at Waukenabo with music by Country Pride; and a Valentine's dance from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Feb. 13 with music by the Chmielewski Band. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.

TOPS 1792 open house planned

TOPS MN Chapter No. 1792 would like to invite anyone interested in "Taking Pounds Off Sensibly" to an open house from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church. This weight loss group is free of charges and uses educational materials and friendly support at meetings to help members reach their weight goals.
