CROSBY - Dr. Jerome Poland and Dr. Stacy Sjoberg, ophthalmologists at Crosby Eye Clinic, recently attended Hawiian Eye, an international meeting where ophthalmologists share data and techniques on ocular surgery and conditions in Hawaii.
In addition to providing ophthalmic services at Crosby Eye Clinic, surgery at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, Riverwood Healthcare Center and Brainerd Lakes Surgery Center, Poland and Sjoberg are adjunct professors at the University of Minnesota's Medical School and have lectured nationwide on various ophthalmic issues.
Herman named February employee of the month
LITTLE FALLS - Judy Herman was named February employee of the month by the Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.
Herman, Little Falls, is a drive-up teller at Pine Country Bank in Little Falls. Herman has been employed at the bank for three years. She started in banking in May 1967 at the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis and worked at American National Bank, also known as, Community First for 37 years.
Jon Vetter, bank vice president, said Herman's greatest attribute is an ability to connect with customers and fellow employees. Vetter credited Herman's sense of humor, her knowledge and her work ethic.
Lakewood Health System hires on-staff podiatrist
STAPLES - David C. Schleichert, Podiatrist, recently became one of Lakewood Health System's on-staff specialists.
Schleichert previously consulted at Lakewood Health System on a regular basis, but now as part of the on-staff team he will spend two days a week at the Staples clinic in addition to practicing privately through Central Minnesota Foot and Ankle in St. Cloud.
Schleichert graduated from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago in 1987 after his undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Minnesota in 1983. Schleichert is board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and has licenses in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the American Diabetes Association.
Orthopedic physician assistant joins Lakewood Health System
STAPLES - Lakewood Health System welcomes Alesandra "Sandy" J. Boily, physician assistant specializing in orthopedics, to its health care team.
Boily joins Lakewood as part of Joint Connection - a comprehensive joint replacement program designed to guide patients through a joint replacement from consultation through recovery.
Boily comes to Lakewood with 22 years of physician assisting experience; 18 years in orthopedic services. Boily earned her bachelor of science and medicine degree at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo after finishing her bachelor of arts at Minnesota State University, Moorhead.
Boily is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assitants and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Haurum joins Old Times paper
PEQUOT LAKES - Jeanie Haurum, writer, artist and co-owner of Northern Treasures in Pequot Lakes, recently joined The Old Times paper as an independent advertising agent. The Old Times is a monthly newspaper dedicated to antiques and collectibles.
Holmvig elected Kinship Partners board president
Steve Holmvig was elected president of the Kinship Partners Board.
He is director of operations for Consolidated Telecommunications Co. and has been a Kinship mentor for several years.
New members elected to the board are Pam Braland of Wolters Kluwer Financial Services, Gary Walters of Fiducia Benefits Group and Jim Haakonson of LarsonAllen LLP.

RedHouseMedia, a Brainerd-based ad agency in the Franklin Arts Center, recently won eight Addy Awards at the American Advertising Federation of Central Minnesota Addy Awards Show at the St. Cloud Civic Center.
RedHouseMedia was awarded seven Silver Addy Awards for advertising campaigns, including Deerwood Bank's No Green Fees :30 radio ad, Insist on Minneapolis Heart Institute Newsprint Campaign, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Crosby Cares Mixed Media Campaign, Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery TV campaign, St. Gabriel's Hospital Health Matters Newsletter, CTC Dialers Digest Newsletter, and RedHouseMedia's Five Year Anniversary mixed media campaign. RedHouseMedia was also awarded a gold Addy for the RedHouseMedia Web site and blog.
World Economic Forum features Russell Herder research
Proprietary social media research conducted by Russell Herder was featured at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
Russell Herder reported it conducted a groundbreaking study with Ethos Business Law on corporate use of social media, as well as on the need for internal policies and training. Russell Herder was contacted last month for permission to share key findings at the global event in a session entitled "The Growing Influence of Social Networks," which featured the CEOs of LinkedIn, MySpace, Ning and Twitter, among others.

Adventure is best of show 3rd year in a row
Adventure, a Brainerd-based advertising firm, was awarded Best of Show honors at the Addy Awards competition Jan. 30, in downtown St. Cloud.
This is the third straight year that Adventure has received the show's top honor for creative excellence.
