PEQUOT LAKES -- A joint effort of the Cass and Crow Wing county sheriff's departments nabbed a burglar in the act Jan. 26 at a residence near Pequot Lakes.
Vernon Olson, 46, Pequot Lakes, was arrested near a rural Homebrook Township residence that he had broken into in Cass County. Olson initially fled from deputies but was apprehended a short time later with help from the Crow Wing County K-9 Unit.
Cass County Sheriff Randy Fisher said the vehicle Olson used to drive to the Homebrook Township residence was stolen from Nisswa. In subsequent searches by Cass and Crow Wing County authorities, several items stolen in thefts and burglaries were recovered.
Olson was charged in Cass County District Court with second-degree burglary, receiving stolen property and motor vehicle use without consent. He is being held on $50,000 bail in the Cass County Jail.
