AITKIN - Russell David Peterson, age 74, of Aitkin, died on Feb. 3, 2009, at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. He was born on Jan. 13, 1935, in Almena, Wis., to H. Engnard and Ida (Severson) Peterson. He was a member of the Teamsters Union for 36 years. Russell was employed with Cemstone Ready Mix for 25 years and Rock Island Water Transit. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict, spending three years in Germany. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crosby.
He is survived by special friend, Shirley Meyer; two sons, Robert (Diann) Peterson, of New Richmond, Wis., and Tom Peterson, of New Richmond, Wis.; one daughter, Linda Willett, of Somerset, Wis.; two brothers, Gerald "Jerry" Peterson, of Fleming, Wis., and Robert Peterson, of Nevada; one sister, Joan (Martin) Simpson, of Spooner, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until time of services at the church. Military honors will be given by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post 557, Deerwood. Burial will be at the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in New Richmond, Wis. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
