Alleged sexual assault at Arctic Blast investigated

MILACA (AP) -- Mille Lacs County authorities were investigating an alleged sexual assault at a resort that was host to a charity fund-raiser sponsored by the Minnesota Vikings.

Alan Marxhausen, undersheriff for the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office, did not identify possible suspects, but said that the investigation focuses on several members of the Vikings organization.

According to police, a 30-year-old woman said she was socializing with members of the organization early Sunday at Eddy's Resort near Onamia when the alleged assault occurred. She was treated at an Aitkin hospital.

But authorities have been unable to talk with members of the Vikings, who have referred questions or requests for interviews to their attorneys. Executive Vice President Mike Kelly told The Associated Press Monday night that he knew nothing more than he had heard in news reports.

The alleged assault occurred during Arctic Blast, a four-day event staged at several resorts and businesses on Lake Mille Lacs and orchestrated by a fund-raising arm of the football organization. The event features appearances by Vikings players, coaches and alumni.
