DEERWOOD - The Deerwood Lakes Lions Club has announced its annual scholarship program for seniors in the Crosby-Ironton and Aitkin High Schools. The club will award a $500 scholarship to a high school senior graduating from each school in 2010. In addition, the club is offering up to two $500 vocational/technical scholarships to be awarded to students from either the Crosby-Ironton or Aitkin High Schools.
A Deerwood Lakes Lions Scholarship is awarded only for the full-time student and must be used during the school year immediately following high school graduation. The scholarship winner is determined by the applicant's academic record, involvement in school and community activities, probable success in their chosen field and the demonstrated need of financial assistance.
Applications are available from the school counselors, or by contacting the scholarship chair, Lori Podany, P.O. Box 8, Deerwood, MN 56444. Deadline for submitting the completed application is March 27. The scholarship recipient will be notified in May at the awards ceremony.
