State Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson announced his appointments to the newly established Dairy Profitability Advisory Committee. The 14-member committee, including Greg Blaine, producer, Little Falls, is charged with recommending ways to maximize dairy profitability efforts and improve the competitiveness of Minnesota's dairy industry.
The committee will be responsible for reviewing and making recommendations for the MDA's dairy profitability and dairy business planning grant programs.
Two arrested for meth
BAXTER - Two people were arrested Friday morning at the Brainerd Lakes Inn for possession of methamphetamine, said Baxter Police Chief Jim Exsted.
Exsted said officers were responding to a disturbance call that led to the arrest of a Spring Lake woman and a St. Paul man, both age 23.
Charges are pending with the Crow Wing County attorney's office on possession of the meth and other drug-related changes, including child endangerment.
P.L. play is first alternate
The Pequot Lakes High School One-Act Play, "Women of Troy," directed by Daren Blanck, was selected as first alternate at the One-Act Play sub-section 24 competition at Wadena Memorial Auditorium Jan. 27.
SWCD to meet Monday
BAXTER - The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District Personnel Committee will meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the Ag Service Center, 7118 Clearwater Road in Baxter.
The meeting is to discuss staffing issues and review applications for district technician.
Pierz plans closed meeting
PIERZ - The Pierz City Council will meet in closed session at 6 p.m. Wednesday at city hall.
The subject of the meeting is the fire department lawsuit that was recently settled.
