Marie A. Damrau, 51, Brainerd, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, as the result of an automobile accident.
She was born July 7, 1951, in Hampton, Iowa, to John and Rosa (Ehlert) Ward. She graduated from Marshalltown Community College in 1972. She married Edward A. Damrau on Aug. 19, 1973, in New Providence, Iowa. They moved to Brainerd in 1991. She worked for Good Neighbor. She was a member of the Brainerd Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband; her son, Shawn, at home; her mother, Swea City, Iowa; a brother, Jimmy Ward, Swea City, Iowa; her foster parents, Ken and Evelyn Cook, New Providence, Iowa; and three foster sisters, Diane Nelson, Andrea Brown and Pat Gourley, all of New Providence, Iowa.
Her father; grandparents; and a foster sister, Cheryl Cook, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church in Brainerd with Pastors Mark Boone and Hank Whinery officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in rural Brainerd.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
