Snowfall totals in Brainerd were pitifully below average in January - 4.25 inches compared to a 10-year-average of 13.6 inches.

The seasonal snowfall total is 23.75 inches compared to a 32.1-inch average.

Precipitation totals so far this year are .31 of an inch compared to an .89 of an inch average.

January's high temperature was 44 degrees Jan. 26. The month's low temperature was minus 4 Jan. 21.

Head of House health panel to meet with Brainerd health-care officials

Rep. Fran Bradley, R-Rochester, chairman of the House Health Policy and Finance Committee, will meet with health-care officials at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.

He will meet with nursing home administrators to discuss nursing home and elderly issues.

LF community meeting lets residents talk about mansions' future

LITTLE FALLS - A community meeting is planned to give residents an opportunity to express their views regarding the future of the city-owned Linden Hill Conference and Retreat Center, the Musser and Weyerhaeuser mansions.

The Little Falls City Council is in the process of determining what to do with the mansions. The council closed the homes to the public on Dec. 31.

A meeting is slated at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Initiative Foundation meeting room, 405 First St. S.E. in Little Falls. Area residents will have an opportunity to express their thoughts and opinions about Linden Hill and its future. Rep. Greg Blaine, R-Little Falls, will be on hand to listen to input from the community and let people know what can be done from a state level. The meeting is an opportunity for people to speak out if they have ideas, opinions or thoughts about the property.
