Helen L. Czech

LITTLE FALLS -- Helen L. Czech, 92, Elmdale, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.

She was born April 13, 1909, in Elmdale, to Anton and Mary (Gaida) Jendro. She grew up on a farm south of Elmdale and attended school in Elmdale. She married Thomas Czech on Sept. 27, 1927, at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Elmdale. In 1932 they built and operated Tom's Pavilion in Elmdale. They built and operated Elmdale Liquors in 1946 until they retired in 1958. After her husband's death she moved to the Swanville Apartments. She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Elmdale and of the Rosary Society.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard and Arnold Czech, both of Elmdale; a daughter, Dorothy Stanek, Hoyt Lakes; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Her husband; two sons, George and Edward Czech; a daughter, Florence Czech; a sister, Anna Matros; and brothers Paul, Albert, Joseph, John, Fred, Peter and Frank Jendro died earlier.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Elmdale with Father Gregory Mastey officiating. Burial will be in St. Edward's Parish Cemetery in Elmdale.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Sunday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. The Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 5 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus Office of the Dead will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. Friends may also call from 9 a.m. until services Monday at the church.

Arrangements are with Brenny Funeral Home (West Chapel) in Little Falls.
