Central Lakes College Theatre will begin its spring Cultural Arts Series with Lauren Nickisch's one-woman show, "Hephzibeth, Woman of Iron," at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9-10 in the Dryden Theatre on the Brainerd campus.

Tickets are $5 for the public and free for CLC students. The box office number is 855-8199.

Nickisch, Pequot Lakes, is an actress, playwright and music teacher. She researched and wrote this 90-minute play about her great-great-great grandmother, Hephzibeth Jewett Merritt, and has performed it about 50 times.

Hephzibeth, who arrived in Duluth in 1856, was the matriarch of a family of eight sons. They helped shape the city of Duluth and helped create the Iron Range from the wilderness of northeast Minnesota.
