Region 5 board to meet
STAPLES -- The Region 5 Board will meet 9 a.m. Feb. 14 at the Region 5 office in Staples.
Y dance tonight
The Brainerd Family YMCA is hosting a dance for sixth- and seventh-graders at 7 p.m. today.
The YMCA will close at 6:30 p.m. for the dance. Cost is $5 and will be collected at the door. Music, dancing, pop and snacks will be provided.
January snowfall a mere pittance
Those brown patches of lawn showing through what's normally snow cover tell the tale of January's snowfall amount in the Brainerd area.
The DNR office in Brainerd reported 4 inches of snow in January compared to a 10-year-average of 15.4 inches. Precipitation was .07 of an inch compared to the average of 1.04 inches.
Snowfall for the season is 23 inches compared to an average of 34.65 inches.
January's high temperature was 50 on Jan. 25. The low temperature was 12 below zero on Jan. 18.
