Five people were killed in four area accidents Thursday and today.
At 9:38 a.m. today one person was killed in a single-vehicle rollover on Thiesse Road, near its intersection with County Road 45 in southeast Brainerd, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department reported.
No other information on the accident was available this morning.
One person died in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 27 just west of Isle. The accident happened about 9:25 a.m. Thursday.
The victim, Carly Page Bruske, 17, Wahkon, was pronounced dead at the scene, the State Patrol reported.
Bruske was eastbound on Highway 27 when she lost control of her vehicle on the icy roadway and was struck broadside by an eastbound vehicle driven by Carl Miller, 66, of Isle. Bruske was ejected from her vehicle.
Miller was transported to Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia.
About 2:45 p.m. Thursday two people were killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 10 near Randall.
The victims, Thomas Leon Siegel, 37, and Karen Lee Siegel, 36, both of Randall, were pronounced dead upon arrival at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.
Thomas Siegel, who was driving, and Karen Siegel were westbound on Morrison County Road 104 in Randall when they failed to yield at the county road's intersection with Highway 10, colliding broadside with a vehicle driven by Scott Youngquist, 37, Cass Lake, the State Patrol reported. The Siegel's vehicle caught fire as a result of the accident, the State Patrol reported.
Youngquist was treated at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls and released.
A Backus man died as a result of a vehicle accident at Wood Street Thursday, said Backus Police Chief Dale Vredenburg. The chief said the truck hit two trees and the man was found slumped over the seat.
Vredenburg said the accident happened around 2 a.m. Thursday.
The Cass County Sheriff's Department is assisting the police department on the investigation.
