BAXTER -- Widseth Smith Nolting, engineering and design firm in Baxter, won grand prize in the bridge category for a project on the Turtle River in North Dakota that replaced a Turtle River State Park bridge damaged in a flash flood.
The award came from the North Dakota Ready Mix and Concrete Products Association.
This is the bridge Widseth Smith Nolting built over the Turtle River.
WSN served as architect, structural and civil engineer on the project with Aggregate Industries as the concrete subcontractor. Judging was based on a points system with 10 points maximum awarded in several categories, including architectural use of concrete, project complexity, unique engineering, finished appearance, overall use of concrete and products and innovation.
Five points maximum were awarded for judges' perception.
