LITTLE FALLS -- The Little Falls Community High School one-act play, "Morning Glory," took first place at the North 8AA Sub-Section One Act Play Contest, held Saturday in Detroit Lakes.
The play now advances to 8AA Section competition this Saturday in Alexandria. The winner of the section competition will advance to the state contest Thursday and Friday, Feb. 7 and 8, at St. Catherine's College in St. Paul.
Cast and crew members include Roxanne Rouland, Ryan Walkoviak, Mandy Morgan, Paul Giddings, Kelsi Bengtson, Jodi Tonsager, Steve Weiss, Andy Geyer and Nicole Vasilauskas. Richard Johnson directs the play, assisted by Mary Jo Morgan.
Thief River Falls took second place in the competition, and Moorhead took third. Other schools competing were Brainerd, Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls and Alexandria.
"Morning Glory" is a vignette from Laurence Housman's full length play, "Victoria Regina," a series of scenes and episodes from the life of Queen Victoria. Helen Hayes became famous when she starred in the play on Broadway in the 1930s.
Judges commended the actors for their realistic and challenging portrayal of historical characters.
