Sylvester Z. Czech

SOBIESKI -- Sylvester Z. Czech, 80, Sobieski, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at the St. Cloud Veterans Home.

He was born May 2, 1921, in Swan River Township to John and Mary (Copa) Czech. From 1942-45, he served in the Army in the Pacific. He worked at various places in the Minneapolis area. He then moved back to Pine Creek Township to farm until his retirement. He was a member of the Little Falls VFW Post No. 1112 and a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski.

Survivors include a brother, John Czech, Little Falls; and two sisters, Agnes Richter, Minneapolis, and Gertrude Gibas, Brooklyn Center.

Six brothers, Frank, Tom, Joe, Simon, Stanley and Leo Czech; and four sisters, Rose Janey, Clara Kliber and Loretta and Pauline Czech, died earlier.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski with Father David Grundman officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Little Falls VFW Post No. 1112. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Friday, with parish prayers at 7 p.m., and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Brenny Funeral Home, West Chapel, in Little Falls.
