Members of the Sigma Delta chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association at Central Lakes College will receive a portion of the proceeds from a pro wrestling card to help pay for a trip to its national conference.
But law and order will be absent from the ring when Rock 'N Roll Wrestling Promotions brings a seven-match show to the CLC gym 7 p.m. Friday, March 2.
The main event will be a tag team bout featuring World Championship Wrestling star Lenny Lane and Buck Rock 'N Roll Zumhofe against "Bad Boy" JB Trask and "Livewire" Johnny Parks. Trask is the nephew of Kenny "The Sodbuster" Jay, a former All-Star Wrestling patsy. Parks is the son of Reggie Parks, a former All-Star Wrestling legend from Australia.
Heather Whitefeather will take on Elvira Finch in a women's match. KLZ disc jockey Tim Norton will wrestle CLC coach and athletic director Dennis Eastman in a sumo match. Both bouts will be refereed by Brainerd teacher/coach John Ward.
Another match on the card will pit "The Sheriff" against "Shifty." Also scheduled to appear are Matt Burns, Jason Vane, "Iron Mike" and Jake "The Gentle Giant."
Advance tickets are available beginning Monday at the CLC box office. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets may also be purchased by calling the box office at 855-8199. Tickets also will be available at Dave's Pit Stop in Crosby and at Tropical Nights in Brainerd.
Advance ticket prices are $15 for ringside, $10 reserved and $5 general admission. Children under 5 will be admitted free. Tickets will be available the night of the event at CLC for $2 more than the advance prices.
CLC sponsors the only ACJA chapter in Minnesota. Its approximate 25 chapter members are pursuing careers in law enforcement.
This year CLC won the regional competition in Michigan to qualify for the national event March 19-23 at Williamsburg, Va. The wrestling card is one of various fund-raising events the chapter has planned to finance the trip to Virginia.
