EMILY -- Donald Roy Miller, 80, Emily, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
He was born March 7, 1920, in Wellsburg, Iowa, to Emil and Ella (Kruse) Miller. He had been an area resident since 1982. He was a former life member of the Land O' Lakes American Legion Post No. 316, Emily; VFW Post No. 1647, Brainerd; and American Legion Post, Crosslake. He was an Army and Navy veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He served for 13 years and was chosen to serve as an armed guard of the Naval Service. He was a reservist from 1956-1971, serving out of Ames, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; two sons, Michael Miller, Fort Worth, Texas, and Paul Miller, Federal Way, Wash.; a daughter, Susan Windeck, Chama, N.M.; four grandchildren; and three sisters, Leola Abels, Holland, Iowa, and K. Muriel DeVries and Miriam Miller, both of Ackley, Iowa.
A brother, Arthur Miller, died earlier.
Services will be private. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Camp Ripley with military rites. Memorials are preferred to St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Wellsburg, Iowa, or the Donald R. Miller Memorial Fund.
