Cuyuna Range Women's Club plans card party

CROSBY -- The Cuyuna Range Women's Club will hold its annual card party at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, in the social hall at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Crosby.

The event is held to benefit Courage Center and is open to both men and women. The party is held in the early afternoon, rather than the evening, for the convenience of those who attend. Cribbage, 500 and bridge will be played.

Tickets are $2 and include game and door prizes, and lunch at the close of the afternoon. For more information contact Kaye Frey, party chair, at 546-5010.

Anyone who wishes to donate prizes for this event is asked to bring them to Jeanette Smith, prize coordinator, at the Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library in Crosby.

STAPLES -- Staples Motley Community Education offers the following classes:

It's All About You

Learn positive, simple and consistent messages about nutrition, as well as how to make healthy choices.

This class will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Staples Motley High School Home Economics Room. Joyce will be the instructor.

Self-Defense Seminar

This three-hour seminar will focus on learning basic punching and kicking techniques to defend one's self against one or more assailants. Appropriate support clothing is required.

This class will run from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 10 in the Staples Motley wrestling room. Francisco will be the instructor. Cost is $15.

Rag Time Quilt

This is a fun, scrappy project so participants don't have to worry about which color or fabric goes next to each other. After the quilt is completed and washed the frayed ends hide a multitude of sins.

This class will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Quilting Memories classroom in Staples. Cost is $15 for pattern and supplies. A supply list will be mailed upon registration. Lorna Wiens will be the instructor.

Cass County Council on Aging to meet Feb. 19

CASS LAKE -- The Cass County Council on Aging will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at the Cass Lake Senior Center, Cass Lake.

The Cass Lake Senior Club will serve a lunch at noon (for a small donation).

At this meeting, a pharmacist from the Thrifty White Drug in Bemidji will be available to answer questions regarding drug interaction and over-the-counter drugs.

This meeting is open to the public and all are invited to attend.

For the winter months, the S.A.L.T. Council will hold its meetings directly after the council on aging meetings (approximately 2:30 p.m.) SALT Council members and anyone interested are invited to attend.
