LITTLE FALLS -- Edward R. Bates, 89, Little Falls, formerly of Randall, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Lutheran Care Center of Little Falls.
He was born July 19, 1910, in Randall to Ben and Edith (Briese) Bates. He attended school in District No. 85. He married Mildred M. Wilcox on June 15, 1935, at Presbyterian Church in Randall. They served as sextons, taking care of the Roseland Cemetery for many years. He served as on the Clough Township Board for many years. His wife died on June 2, 1995. In April 1994, he became a resident of Lutheran Care Center. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Randall.
Survivors include a sister, Hazel Kjeldergaard, Woodland Hills, Calif., and many nieces and nephews.
His wife, five sisters, Bertha Bates, Bessie Harrington, Florence Chandler, Laura McCarthy and Cora Smart, and a brother, Ralph Bates, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Randall Presbyterian Church of Randall with the Rev. Suzanne Cekalla officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery of Clough Township, north of Randall.
Friends may call at Presbyterian Church of Randall from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday.
