Two Brainerd lakes area men died as a result of a three-vehicle traffic collision Friday in the Twin Cities, according to the State Patrol.
One driver, Christopher Peterson, 19, Aitkin, and his passenger, Chad Berg, 18, Crosby, died at the scene. They were not wearing seatbelts, the State Patrol said.
The Peterson vehicle sideswiped a vehicle driven by Jerold Nelson, 60, Dayton. He was not reported injured. Peterson then lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median and was struck in the right side by a semi-truck driven by Lyle Broppre, 34, Cliffton, N.D. Broppre was not reported injured. The State Patrol said Nelson and Broppre were wearing seatbelts.
The accident was reported at 8:25 a.m. Friday on Highway 694 and Brooklyn Boulevard in Brooklyn Center.
