A jail without bars? Such a thing was unheard of several years ago. This doesn't mean that there aren't secure cells. Instead of bars, however, there are walls and windows with unbreakable glass at the new Law Enforcement Center.

Northern Pacific officials in St. Paul said at noon today that operations on the Northern Pacific will stop at 9 p.m. Clarence Jordan, shop superintendent, said he has received no word from management on a shutdown of the local facilities.

Miss Eula Michael, city and school nurse, announced her resignation, effective Sept. 1, 1960. Miss Michael has been city school nurse for 40 years.

Its spirited last half rally falling short by just two points, Brainerd High School dropped another game to the invading Staples Railroaders 32 to 30. Brainerd was sparked by sharpshooting Gus Novotney who poured in 17 points displaying long range accuracy.

Fatty Arbuckle's new Paramount Comedy "Hayseed," which is being shown at the Best Theater, is a genuine laugh-maker and all Arbuckle fans will find it a delightful affair.

An exchange says that in Norway a girl must have a certificate that she can cook before she can get married. The groom should also have a certificate that he can provide something to cook.
