LaMIRADA, Calif. - Former Brainerd resident and long-time Alaskan, Frank Joseph Selisker, 88, passed away on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, in LaMirada, Calif.
He was born in Brainerd in 1921 to Frank and Hannah Selisker. He was a World War II veteran and served on the Destroyer, USS Meade, in the South Pacific. He was a lifelong member of the VFW and a member of "The Last Man Club" in Brainerd.
Frank is survived by two brothers, Phil (Bonnie), of Brainerd, and Ray, of Raleigh, N.C.; five sons, Dennis (Marga), of Coon Rapids, Mike, of Brainerd, David (Paula), of Brainerd, Jim (Martha), of LaMirada, Calif., and Gary, of Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Sharon Christian (Rick), of Ramsey; 13 grandchildren, Troy, Tracy, Chad, Joe, Stephanie, Nathan, Bryan, Cassandra, Nicole and Bob, Frank, Naomi and Beau; six great-grandchildren, and lifelong friend, Darryl Harris (Vivian); nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Evelyn; his former wife, Mayme Krinovich; and his wife of 50 years, Jerry.
A memorial service is planned for July and a notice will be in the July newspaper.
