STAPLES - Central Lakes College Communication Art and Design students produced a series of six cooking shows with professional tips for the Staples cable TV public access channel.
"Cooking with Kevin" will begin airing in February, every Wednesday at noon.
Each show will instruct viewers on the preparation of special French and Italian entrees favored by T Maxwell's Executive Chef Kevin Aho.
Students Jessica Murdock of Staples, Amber Hulke of Nisswa, and Amanda Johnson and Kevin Ballinger of Aitkin, along with instructor Leon Dahlvang, worked with Aho in the development of these videos, which will be viewed on the Public, Education, and Government Channel 8 of the Charter system managed by the city of Staples.
Chef Kevin Aho of T Maxwell's and Bev Nelson hosted one segment in a videotaped series of food preparation shows produced by students in the Central Lakes College videography production degree program at Staples. The series begins airing during the second week of February on the cable TV public access channel in Staples.

Dahlvang's students set up a professional digital video shoot at T Maxwell's and recorded Aho preparing six different dishes with special guests, including Bob Hamann Bev Nelson, and Jim and Michelle Jesiorski. Alan Judd with Community Education provided the introduction.
Featured entrees: chicken chasseur, bruschetta, champagne chicken, con pollos chicken and pan seared steak with a brandied cream sauce.
"This project was put together as an assignment given to the students in their video editng class," Dahlvang said. Working with the Staples Motley Community Education office, the college students employed Final Cut Pro software and saved the files to DVDs.
The Communication Art and Design program has included video production in its curriculum for several years. Starting with the 2010 fall term, Central Lakes College will offer a two-year videography productions associate in applied science degree with diploma option.
"In this exciting field of videography students will learn to produce commercials, industrials and narrative films from start to finish," Dahlvang said.
