Aulie to talk about Cuyuna Range history

Posted: Thursday, January 30, 2003

CROSBY -- Berger Aulie will give a talk, "Cuyuna Range History: Railroad through the Mining Era," at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Hallett Community Center in Crosby.

Aulie's presentation will cover the type of history the Cuyuna Country Heritage Preservation Society has written, plus the plans to complete Volume III. That book will document from 1950 to the present. Aulie and his wife, Maryon, have completed more than 400 interviews of the last two generations of residents. To finish Volume III, they will chat with individuals who have moved into the area or have come home since the end of World War II. They also will offer suggestions for preparing personal family histories.

The Aulies were educated and worked -- she as a nurse, he as a teacher -- in this area. They now live in Brainerd and remain active with the heritage society and hospice work.

Aulie's lecture is the third for the Unlimited Learning program, which has been organized by and for adults in this community. For more information, contact Shirley Hale at (218) 546-2616.
