Plans for future use of the current Brainerd Police Department office in city hall were discussed at a meeting of the building committee. The police offices on the east side of city hall will be vacated when the police move to the new Law Enforcement Center.

Brainerd's city council has decided unofficially to withhold its two extra liquor licenses for applicants who plan to make substantial investments here. One will possibly be awarded to the new Holiday Inn, currently being constructed by builder Ray Madison.
60 years ago (1950)
Lt. Gov. C. Elmer Anderson reported the Gull Lake area was the coldest in the nation this morning, saying his thermometer in Nisswa read 56 below zero. Anderson entered a plea to President Truman to do something about the coal strike.
80 years ago (1930)
A man named Hutchins, salesman for a New York coffee vendor, was being sought by the police on charges of assault and indecent language brought by Harry Burt, owner of Burt's Lunch. Hutchins has two black eyes, cut nose and mouth, after being ejected.
100 years ago (1910)
Deputy Game Warden Rardin a few days ago seized two gill nets, 15 partridges and a sack of illegally caught fish in the possession of a Mr. Lambert at Woman Lake. He was tried at Pine River and fined the sum of $22.
