Raiders done in by Mesabi

COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Posted: Monday, January 29, 2007

VIRGINIA - The Central Lakes College women's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Mesabi Range squad as the Raiders dropped their second straight North Division game 71-45 Saturday.

The Lady Norse shot 65 percent from the field and used a full-court, man-to-man press in the first half to build a 40-23 lead.

"We didn't do a good job of clearing out against their press and that put us in position for traps," Raiders coach Brad Amundson said. "We got down and that set the tone for the rest of the game. Once we were in our offense we got some good looks.

"That's the second game in a row that we've run into a really hot-shooting team. We couldn't handle their pressure and we have to do some things better on the offensive end."

LeeAnn Karlsgodt had 15 points

Mesabi held CLC's top two leading scorers, Erin Karlsgodt (12.1 points per game) and Megan Meyer (10.5), to just 11 combined points in the game.

LeaAnn Karlsgodt led the Raiders with 15 points, including two 3-pointers, while Heather Feldewerd added 10.
