PINE RIVER -- The second Cabin Fever Day for Women, sponsored by Pine River-Backus Community Education, will offer a variety of workshops, a motivational speaker, live music, luncheon and displays and vendors from the community.
The event will run 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Pine River-Backus School in Pine River. It is geared to women of all ages to take time to relax, have fun, network and gain skills and resources.
There will be 17 different workshops, including: what's new in quilting and crafts, vegetarian gourmet cooking, flower arranging, aromatherapy, Reiki, components of a healthy lifestyle, exploring your spiritual path, journaling, creating a brighter future and "Bodacious Women: becoming succulent, wild women despite ourselves."
There also will be an "On Your Honor Book Exchange." Participants can bring a book, or two or more, and exchange them for an equal number of "new" books to take home.
The keynote speaker is Eloise Thorson from Central Lakes College in Brainerd. She will present "Connoisseurs of the Art of Living." She is a customized training coordinator and facilitator for CLC and owner and operator of Thorson's Farm Fresh Chickens and Produce. She has a master's degree in organizational leadership, and is affectionately known as "the chicken lady."
Participants will hear the live music of Saphyre, a three-piece group performing Renaissance style music. Displays will include Blue Skye Beads, Brigid's House of Park Rapids, A Caring Touch Massage Therapies, Heart & Sole Reflexology in Hackensack, Heartfelt Quilt Studio & Classroom of Silbaugh's in Pine River, MN KinCare, Nature's Bounty Basket Boutique, Nikken Wellness, Pine River Area Art Club, Pine River Depot, Sexual Assault Program of Beltrami, Cass and Hubbard counties, Stone Woman Herbals of Hackensack, Wild Rose Farm of Breezy Point and more.
Child care will be available on a limited basis. Women needing this service must indicate this on their registration form in advance. Registration fee of $25 includes everything for the day. Brochures with specific information and registration form are available in the community. Space is limited.
