ST. PAUL -- Eda M. Seelen, 79, St. Paul, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, in an traffic accident in St. Croix County, Wis., in which her husband also died.
She was born March 15, 1921, in Wayland, Iowa, to Robert and Adadline (Mayenzet) Mathieu. She graduated from the Wayland, Iowa, High School. She married Francis J. Seelen on June 5, 1948, in Moline, Ill. They lived in Rock Island, Ill., from 1948 until moving to Huntington, W.Va., in 1963. In 1971, they moved to St. Paul where she worked as a secretary for the State of Minnesota until retiring in 1991. She was active in Assumption Catholic Church in St. Paul.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Seelen, Virginia, Jeffrey Seelen, St. Paul; two daughters, Janet Haught, Huntington, W.V., Roberta Seelen-Wolf, St. Paul; eight grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Hookem, Bettendorf, Iowa, Emma Rehn, Bettendorf, Iowa, and Frances Haynes, Iowa.
A sister, Helen Rosenberg, and a brother, Edward Mathieu, died earlier.
Services for Eda and her husband, Francis, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, with parish prayers at 5 p.m., and 8 a.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
