The Legislative Building Commission comprised of members of both the House and the Senate, has approved $475,000 for a new building at Brainerd State Junior College and $166,000 for additions and remodeling at Brainerd State Hospital.

40 years ago (1961)

Crow Wing County would be included in a vastly changed Sixth Congressional District under Congressional reapportionment bills introduced in the State legislature.

60 years ago (1941)

It is understood that a bill will be introduced in the Legislature providing that the sheriffs throughout the state shall hereafter receive a stated salary instead of fees as at present. The measure will not be a popular one with the sheriffs.
